Liverpool’s Anfield Road Stand Upper Tier Opening Delayed Until 2024

Liverpool Football Club's Anfield Road Stand The Liverpool FC have announced the upper tier of their Anfield Road Stand will remain closed for the rest of the year. As a result, fans who have bought tickets for next weekend's Liverpool vs Everton game will miss out.

The Premier League Club are completing an £80m stadium upgrade to increase capacity by 7,000 to 61,000.

Liverpool changed contractors to Rayner Rowen Group last month, following the Buckingham Group going into administration.

Commenting on the completion of the expansion, Liverpool’s chief executive Billy Hogan said: “It's just not possible at this point to put a new timeline in place. And, frankly, we don't want to set the wrong expectation.”

Initially it had been hoped the work would be completed for the start of this season.

Liverpool have decided to keep the Anfield Road Stand closed until 2024 to allow fans clarity, and to give the Rayner Rowen Group time to complete a revised project schedule.

During this season, only the lower tier of the Anfield Road Stand has been occupied by supporters. This has reduced the ground's capacity to 50,000.
