West Yorkshire-based back up power specialist PPSPower has recently supported several leading Yorkshire football clubs with their back-up power and generator needs helping them to celebrate success on the field.

The national provider of generator and UPS power and service maintenance solutions has supported Leeds United with its power needs for more than 10 years and maintained Elland Road’s current generator last season as it celebrated winning the Championship title and a promotion to the Premier League.

The firm also installed a new generator at Rotherham’s New York Stadium prior to the club’s promotion to the Championship and continues to provide ongoing maintenance and support.

PPSPower also installed a new generator at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane home in August before the start of the new season, supporting it’s needs during its long-awaited return to the top flight.

Stephen Peal, director PPSPower, says in the current climate, with an increasing number of games televised, TV companies are seeking assurances that clubs can offer a reliable back-up supply:

“COVID-19 has obviously restricted fans attendances at live sports events and we are finding that TV companies are putting pressure on clubs to demonstrate their supplies are resilient and capable of performing during live broadcasts. Particularly for football clubs coming up from the Championship into the Premier League, there is often a need for stadiums to upgrade their systems.

“Last season was a landmark one for several of our football clients and we were proud to have played out part by keeping their grounds powered up and with a backup supply. We are now continuing our maintenance work in preparation for the new season and are on hand for any clubs in the UK requiring support.”

PPSPower’s successful installations have led to the firm scoring several ongoing maintenance contracts, with on-call repair and maintenance services, planned preventative maintenance and upgrade installations for several other UK football clubs including Burnley, Swansea and Ross County in Scotland.

At a time when live sports are currently being played out in empty grounds due to the impact of COVID-19, Stephen says clubs should be planning ahead to prepare their facilities for a phased return to crowded fixtures:

Stephen added: “Games are currently being played behind closed doors but we know how eager sports clubs are to get crowds back to their grounds. There is a huge financial implication to not being able to welcome people to live events and while safety is always the priority and crowds should not be in attendance until it is deemed absolutely safe, we want to ensure that clubs have the support in place to provide them with a resilient back up power solution ahead of the new season.”
