Anfield stewards offer to help out at over-run supermarkets

Liverpool stewards are volunteering to help with crowd control and assisting the elderly with their shopping at supermarkets, the club’s chief executive has said.

Over the past few days images have been shared of chaotic scenes at supermarkets as long queues form for groceries, while a number of branches have introduced restrictions to prevent panic buying during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore said his club’s stewards were on hand to help manage the situation.

 

Stamford Bridge’s Millennium Hotel accommodating NHS staff

Chelsea are providing accommodation to staff of Britain’s NHS in a hotel at the club’s Stamford Bridge Stadium during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Chelsea Football Club is joining the medical response to the coronavirus outbreak in London with the news the National Health Service has accepted the Club’s offer to make the Millennium Hotel at Stamford Bridge available for NHS staff, " the club said in a statement on their website.

 

Wembley stadium pays tribute to NHS heroes

Wembley Stadium is lighting up in blue to thank NHS staff working on the frontlines against coronavirus.

Less than a week before the national stadium was scheduled to host England's friendly against Italy, the arch has been coloured at night and the words "Thank You NHS" emblazoned above the main entrance.

 

Ulster rugby offer their stadium to the DoH

Ulster have offered use of Kingspan Stadium to the Department of Health to help fight the coronavirus outbreak.

Club CEO Jonny Petrie said on twitter that the department is free to use the facility however they see fit as they tackle the pandemic.

The GAA has already agreed for Croke Park to be used as a drive-by Covid-19 test clinic for north Dublin.
