Plans For A 3G Pitch At Ogi Bridge Meadow Unveiled By Haverfordwest County AFC

A Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to have gained support to develop an artificial football pitch at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium.

The Club have secured funding from the Cymru Football Foundation and Sport Wales to allow us to install a new third generation (3G) playing surface.

The work will be carried out by South Wales Sports Grounds, who were established in 1964 and have built a reputation as one of the leading sports surface contractors in Wales.

The main purpose of this project is to support the development of female football in Pembrokeshire, with the creation of a specific female football hub. This is something they haven’t previously been able to provide for the county due to a lack of facilities.

This exciting development will also mark the beginning of a new era for the club, allowing the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium to become the heartbeat of the community by offering everyday access to local football clubs, community groups and other organisations.

In addition to the footballing opportunities this new facility will provide, it will also allow us to host wellbeing and social activities for the community – something which is a key focus for the club that will be led by their recently‑appointed community manager, Harry Thomas.

Commenting on the news, Mikey Loveridge, head of women’s and girls’ football at Haverfordwest County AFC, said: “The arrival of the new pitch opens doors for exciting possibilities, including the establishment of a Haverfordwest County AFC women’s team.

“This state‑of‑the‑art facility will not only provide our girls with a dedicated space they can proudly call home, but it will also allow them the thrilling experience of emerging from our iconic tunnel before each game. Having access to top‑tier training and playing conditions is an extraordinary opportunity for our young athletes, enabling them to hone their skills and enjoy the beautiful game in an environment that fosters growth and excellence.

“We eagerly anticipate the opportunities that this new facility will bring, empowering local women and girls in football to chase their dreams and reshaping the landscape of women’s sports in our community.”

There will be external hire slots available for group bookings and/or local grassroots clubs. Please note that priority will be given to women’s and girls’ teams.

An expression of interest form for those interested in facility hire will be shared in due course, and communicated across the Club's social media platforms.
