A hotel, a new club shop and museum, and SME workspace are also included in the proposal.

Manchester City FC are seeking permission to extend the North Stand, which would increase the capacity of the stadium to more than 60,000 while also adding hospitality and concourse facilities that would be available throughout the week.

Above the upper tier, a sky bar with views overlooking the pitch will be introduced, together with a stadium roof walk experience.

The plans to extend the north stand include building a 400-bed hotel, club shop and museum, TV studio and roof walk attraction as well as an enhanced fan zone with capacity for 3,000 people and a variety of food and drink outlets.

When submitting the plans, the club said the major construction project would take up to three years to complete, offering 2,600 jobs prioritised for people from Greater Manchester. They added the proposal would continue the transformation of the Campus with a £300m investment creating a stadium which matches its international profile.

With the Campus said to be a visitor destination in its own right and the Co-op Live arena set to become operational in 2024, the football stadium and highly sustainable surrounding area were described as “an ideal location for new facilities such as a hotel, workspaces, food and beverage, conferences facilities and enhanced fan zone”.

The report adds that an innovative building is proposed which would be low carbon, meet biodiversity requirements and have significant social value impacts.

The planning committee will decide the outcome on Thursday, 27th July.
