Update On Work At Birmingham City FC

A As work continues around St. Andrew’s stadium, Birmingham City FC have provided an update on the progress of the work.

With the sixth week of remedial work at the stadium concluding, progress remains on track to have the Tilton Road stand completed by mid-September and the Kop stand by mid-November, as previously communicated.

Since the last update released by the club, the stone that remained in the Tilton Road stand has been compacted to form the stable base for the new safe standing area, and application of protective coating to the steel walkway beams across both stands has been completed.

The last remaining block in the Kop – block 38 – has been successfully removed and work to strengthen the raker beams in that area is underway. Work will continue in the coming weeks to ensure the concrete in the Kop soon resembles the progress made in the Tilton Road stand.

With the temporary acoustic barriers in place, Birmingham City Council has approved the Club’s request for extended working hours allowing the aforementioned September and November deadlines to be met. Contractors are permitted to be on-site past 5pm so that the stands have every opportunity to be open at the earliest possible time.

Work to relay the pitch has begun simultaneously to the stadium repairs and will not impact any of the plans for the Tilton Road and Kop stands.

The first concrete pour to form the terraces in Tilton has begun this week, with the schedule for the next four weeks being predominantly focused around concrete work across both stands. Once the terraces are in situ, seat installation will then begin, with this phase due to commence before the end of July.
