Keep Your Lights Shining Bright-ON!

Power failure can be destructive, and it happens at all levels of the game

Brighton v Palace lighting failure, with fans using the flashlights on their phones Mid-March's Premier League game at the Amex Stadium between Brighton and Crystal Palace was temporarily halted mid-match after a power failure caused the floodlights to go off. The Seagulls were leading their rivals 1-0 when the lights stopped working early in the second half.

Referee Peter Banks also fell victim to the electronic failure as his mic stopped working, with the scoreboard also failing during the few minutes of blackout. In response fans turned on the flashlight on their phones and began waving them in the air, with the majority heading home still smiling as Brighton kept their European charge alive by holding on to their 1-0 lead.

Fortunately, the situation was resolved fairly quickly at the Amex and play was able to resume, however the potential of power failure at stadia, or any facility can be catastrophic for so many reasons.

For Brighton, hefty fines could have been issued and huge revenues lost, had they not had back-up power supplies installed. Any instances of power failure always highlight the requirement for well-maintained backup power and our friends over at YorPower are experts in their field (pun intended).
