Emergency Alarm At Stadium Resulted In Abandoned Rugby Match

A full crowd of spectators at Dam Health Stadium, Edinburgh Edinburgh’s Scottish Building Society pre-season friendly against London Scottish was abandoned with six minutes remaining, following a fire alarm sounding.

The emergency alarm was signalled in the 74th minute and the match was eventually abandoned on health and safety grounds, with fans evacuated from the stadium complex, with the match ending 26-34 in favour of the visitors London Scottish.

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director, Douglas Struth, said: “A stadium fire alarm was triggered accidentally by a member of the public in the Lothian Stand.

“Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended the ground and no fire was identified. We’re pleased to report no one was hurt.”



Mr Struth continued: “We would once again like to thank supporters for their patience and understanding, as well as for the safe and orderly manner in which they left DAM Health Stadium tonight.

“Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.”
