Football Finals Due To Be In Front Of Live Fans at Wembley Stadium

The finals of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup will reportedly be played in front of spectators at Wembley Stadium as 'test events' ahead of this summer's European Championships. Spectators, albeit only around 30-35% of the 90,000 capacity, will be able to attend for the summer international fixtures.

Wembley is set to stage seven matches at the Euros - all three of England's group games, a last-16 clash, both semi-finals and the final.

Spectators at sporting events could potentially be required to take a lateral flow test before attending and only being allowed admission if they provide a negative result.

It is part of a wider Government plan which could see socially-distanced fans at other sporting events including Wimbledon, the British Grand Prix, the Open and England cricket matches.

The Covid-19 vaccine roll out has seen 15 million people across the country receive their first dose and there is growing optimism that life could return to something closer to normal later this year.

The Carabao Cup final will take place under the arch on April 25 as Tottenham face Manchester City.

Three weekends later, the FA Cup final is scheduled for May 15.

There is also the potential for other test events at the national stadium including the playoff finals in the Championship and Leagues One and Two.
