Sports Stadiums Become Mass Vaccination Stations

Selhurst Park will be used as a COVID-19 vaccination centre Following Leeds United and Huddersfield Town, Premier League football club Crystal Palace has announced that Selhurst Park will also be used as a vaccination centre in the fight against COVID-19. Crystal Palace first offered the use of Selhurst Park to the NHS at the beginning of the pandemic back in March, 2020.

Selhurst Park joins Elland Road in West Yorkshire together with The John Smith’s Stadium all of which are considered to be ideal locations for mass vaccination centres.

The sports world generally has rallied to provide venues for mass vaccination including Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium, Manchester Tennis & Football Centre Manchester, Surrey’s Epsom Downs Racecourse and Rugby’s Twickenham Stoop Stadium to name but a few.

Chelsea FC have once again opened up the Millenium Hotel at Stamford Bridge to be available to medics in North-West London. As part of the efforts to assist during the coronavirus crisis chairman Bruce Buck and owner Roman Abramovich will pay for the costs involved. The NHS said it was "enormously grateful" to the club for the initiative and was looking for similar offers of support.
