For the second year in a row, Liam Cash and his team were named as the Professional Football Grounds Team of the Year at the Grounds Management Association (GMA) Industry Awards.
Liam and his ground staff were at the prestigious awards ceremony at Anfield to collect the trophy, which is a team award highlighting the very best sports turf management at a football club outside of the Premier League and the Championship in England, and the Scottish Premiership.
It’s deserved recognition for the Club’s hard‑working team, who work tirelessly in all conditions to ensure the Edgeley Park pitch is in pristine condition week‑by‑week, providing the perfect playing surface for Dave Challinor’s Champions to perform on.

Head Groundsman, Liam was also rewarded with a ‘Pioneer Legacy’ trophy, an initiative that celebrates individuals who have made a lasting impact on the industry through the GMA’s NextGen group, formerly known as the GMA Young Board. Each Pioneer Mark is uniquely numbered and represents the individual’s contribution to supporting the next generation of grounds people.
Head Groundsman, Liam Cash said: “I said this last year – to be in the final stages for an award like this was great recognition for the lads, but to win it is always extra special. It’s fantastic to be representing our Club at prestigious awards nights amongst our peers, something we are extremely proud of.
“It is very much a team effort with the work that goes into both EP, and the day-to-day running of the pitches at Carrington. We’ve had extra load on the pitches this year across both sites with the introduction of our U18s team too.
“It was also great to welcome an England fixture at Edgeley Park, which was fantastic for everyone involved, and we are looking forward to hopefully welcoming them back again soon. The award, as ever, really is a testament to Justin, Jake, Bailey, Ian and Todd for their brilliant work.”
