Swindon Town Football Club are delighted to announce ahead of next season, they will integrate SIS Grass Hybrid technology at the Nigel Eady County Ground.

SIS Grass Hybrid provides many benefits to both their Grounds Team and the Players who go to battle on the surface, including up to three times more play. The Club’s surface at the Nigel Eady County Ground will be able to withstand more usage and more intensity. Damage will be reduced, and recovery will be quicker.

Best of both, a surface with the authenticity and response underfoot of fully natural grass, with the stability, consistency, and resilience of an artificial surface. Prolonged grass coverage and a reinforced surface will mean less ground erosion or undulation, more reliable playing characteristics, and stability for better player safety.

Head Groundsman, Matt Povey, said: “I am delighted to finally get this project over the line and I’d like to thank Ian Holloway, his coaching staff, CEO, and Chairman for their continued support and investment into the playing surface at the Nigel Eady County Ground.”

“Stitching our current pitch will ensure we have a fast, durable, stable, and consistent playing surface to complement our fast‑paced attacking football, which the manager wants to play. A hybrid surface will also mean we can play more games at the Stadium and look forward to welcoming our Women’s first‑team for all of their 2025/26 league games.”

The announcement comes at an exciting time, not only for the Men’s first‑team and the Football Club, but the growth of their Women’s team as well as we are delighted to announce from the 2025/26 season, Swindon Town Women will play all of their FA Women’s National League games at the Nigel Eady County Ground.

Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Hall added: “We’re committed to creating the best possible playing surface at the Nigel Eady County Ground and we’ve had lots of conversations around the best possible solution for our Men’s first‑team and the style of football Ian Holloway wants to play. However, this solution enables us to have longevity of the surface, improves stability and durability, and ultimately allows us as a club to create a permanent home for our Women’s side for next season.”

Michael Walker, International Operations Manager at SIS Pitches, added: “We’re extremely proud to be working with Matt and the team at Swindon Town Football Club to install our leading hybrid grass system, SIS Grass Hybrid. It’s a system tried and tested across all levels of sport worldwide, and we’re excited to see the positive impact it will have on the playing surface at the Nigel Eady County Ground.”
