Summer Sports Survival Package Lifeline

Summer Sports Survival Package Lifeline The government’s ‘Budget 2021’ has announced a ‘summer sports survival package’ of £300m.

It is yet to be confirmed how this £300m will be apportioned over each sport but it is believed that English cricket, Tennis and horse racing will receive a significant amount.

Separate funding has been provided to the devolved governments for distribution by them, Scotland £57m, Wales £18m and N Ireland £10m.

This £300m is in addition to the £300 ‘winter survival package’ announced in November, 2020.

Details of how this cash will be distributed between the respective sports bodies together with further details are expected to be announced during the coming weeks.

In a separate announcement earlier this week the government committed to supporting a prospective bid from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to host the 2030 edition of football’s FIFA World Cup.
