Warwick Races To Open To Spectators For A Pilot Event On Monday

Warwick Races To Open To Spectators For A Pilot Event On MondayWarwick has been given approval to be just the second British racecourse in six months to welcome a maximum of 474 spectators. Newmarket will also welcome spectators back next week with up to 1,000 allowed to attend per day at the meeting in Cambridgeshire from September 24th to 26th.

Local health officials halted the previous pilot a week ago taking place at the Doncaster St Leger meet, where more than 2.500 were expected.

Tickets will not go on general sale for Monday's meeting at Warwick, with attendance split between 150 annual members, 124 hospitality bookings and up to 200 racehorse owners.

Warwick Racecourse general manager Andre Klein said: "I'd like to thank the range of local stakeholders we have held constructive discussions with to achieve this outcome.

"We have followed their requirements and made concessions to our original plan to significantly limit the number of people at the racecourse, but we will still gain very helpful insights from those who do attend and understand and appreciate the complexities facing those who were involved in making this decision."
