Man Utd Ready To End £40m Sponsorship With Aeroflot

Sign outside Manchester United's stadium The growing crisis in Ukraine, Manchester United are proposing ending their sponsorship agreement with Russian airline Aeroflot.

Aeroflot, the national airline of Russia, have been one of United’s major sponsors since 2013, and in 2017 United extended the agreement in a £40m deal. But United realise how much damage could be done to the club’s image if it continues to be associated with Aeroflot, following Russia’s declaration of war on Ukraine on Thursday morning.

The current agreement is set to run out in the summer of 2023 - and United’s new CEO Richard Arnold does not intend to renew it. United are now looking for a different airline to become the club’s official carriers

If the United States were to issue sanctions against Russian companies, including banning Aeroflot from entering the country, it would leave the Glazers, United’s American owners, facing serious consequences unless the agreement with Aeroflot is concluded.

In total, United’s nine year association with them was worth almost £100m.
