Old Trafford Development And Capacity Increase Anticipated

The outside of Old Trafford Despite their recent investment in upgrading disabled facilities and changing rooms and media facilities, Manchester United’s Old Trafford has fallen behind the level of their competitors’ stadia.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Leicester City, and Tottenham Hotspur have all had millions of pounds from their owners invested into developing their stadiums and training facilities.

However, things are looking to change, as the Glazers are set to start revamping Old Trafford after agreed to the building works that are required to restore the stadium.

The latest renovation work was back in 2016. Since then many structural issues have developed, including a leaky roof in the Charlton Stand.

However, not only is work planned for the stadium itself, but the surrounding area, which currently remains largely undeveloped, is rumoured to be on the Glazers’ itinerary of improvements.

A final update is the reported increase of Old Trafford’s capacity. Currently is can hold just over 74,000 attendees, but there are hints at a plan to increase this to over 80,000.
